John 4:19-26

"Sir," the woman said, "you must be a prophet. So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim, where our ancestors worshiped?"

Jesus replied, "Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on the tis mountain or in Jerusalem. You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. But the time is coming-indeed it's here now- when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship Him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth."

The woman said, "I know the Messiah is coming-the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us."

Then Jesus told her, "I AM the Messiah!"

intercession

What is our job as worhipers? Well, i'm sure many people would say many things. And they'd probably be right, for the most part! But I'd like to focus on something that probably not a lot of us are aware of, or maybe even not comfortable with. Nonetheless, it's true. And whether we like it or not, as Christ followers, we must accept the fact that we are called to intercede on behalf of those who God is ministering to.

Intercession is something that a lot of people aren't that savy about. I am one of those people. But the Bible talks about it, so it must be important! Here's what I've realized. If you are a person who is a worship leader, or a praise team member (that inculeds tech team and band), and fully commit yourself to worshiping God on Sunday mornings, you are vulnerable to spiritual attack! And this goes for any of you who are wholly worshiping God, whether it's in your seat or by serving in another ministry area. Especially if you are someone who is constantly seeking God's face all throughout the week. I'm going to let you in on a little secret. If you pray for God to use you, to work through you, and you are sincere, He's gonna do it! And the scary thing is, you may not even know you're being used. But if you pay attention, and you ask for God's discernment, it may be very clear to you how you were used. This is something that happened to me this week. While exciting and energizing, it's also very unsettling. And here's why. I'm not a tough-guy! I'm not going around looking to pick a fight. But here's what God revealed to me this week. (and it was confirmed by several people that i look up to spiritually) As someone who is a worship leader, someone who is seeking after God's face, when I've asked Him to allow me to serve Him, when I've said, "Use me, Father, for whatever you want to do today", that's exactly what I have been doing. Walking around picking a fight.

Let me ask you a question: Have you ever been involved in worship and you just feel like there's this barrier between you and everyone else? The answer I'm looking for is not one that can be given honestly, unless you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you were not distracted of your own accord. I mean if you came to worship, bent on seeing God's face that day, laying down your life, and picking up His cross. Have you ever experienced that? I have. And it's very disheartening. Or, at least, it was! That was until I realized why.

Over the next few days and weeks, I'll be posting on why I believe we are subjected to this. If you want to know my thoughts, please tune in next time and may God bless you more than you can endure!

Very cool! Glad to see you in the blogosphere. As we continue God's work on earth, we will continue to face the attacks. I'd rather be in war than irrelevant.
